Templating turns site conditions and approved decisions into fabrication information. Before the visit, confirm the items below with the fabricator and responsible trades.
An 8-point fixture check before templating
Sinks, faucets, cooktops, downdrafts, and other fixtures affect cutouts and clearances. Have actual items or approved manufacturer specifications available.
Sink on site
Have the actual sink available so the cutout matches its exact dimensions and clips.
Faucet set
Faucet holes and placement follow spec. Confirm a single or three-hole setup ahead of time.
Cooktop model
A sealed template plus the model number works, but the unit on site is better.
Undermount ready
For undermount sinks, confirm the lip style so the templater knows how to nest it.
